A good read for all that heavent seen it about tuning squish bands and compression ratios with no bullshit involved, its also amazing how the standard oem machining varies that much its nearly impossible for one of us to say what works for you..

apparently all oem parts piston comp height, deck height, overall cylinder height, squish clearance, and rod length can all vary up to .2mm ,(each)so to compensate for slack blue printing most manufactures give us loose squish clearances so there on the safe side..so a bad accumulation of parts could put your final squish clearance and compression either sky high or low and slow with an overall oem variation of nearly 1mm...

It says exactly what peeps were arguing with some of us on, higher CR on a 2-stroke means more torque and less HP...

IS IT RIGHT ABOUT THE SQUISH BAND BEING 1.1-1.5MM?
after reading that it wants to make me run down and grab some blue tac and work opn my squish band lol.
not so sure id work on anything else.
i looked at my spare cr barrel and the exhaust ports are how he recommended them be. flared out on top and narrowed in to accommodate for the boost posts.

its also interesting on what he had to say about matching the expansion chambers to fill flat spots etc.
do it!... cos if you dont, youll spend the rest of your life thinking about it anyway!

Another great old book is Gordon Jennings 2 Stroke Tuners Handbook.

You can download it in a Zip File or as a PDF - the PDF is a copied version of an original, much used book.

Go here if you want to check it out:
