can you measure what size the rivet is approximately?
i have rivets i use to redo baskets, they are from swather knives
i could mail you some if these'll work. then its a matter of changing the rubber dampers inthe back of the basket aswell, prox has them for the newer clutch, maybee some mocrofiche searching will show if theyre the same

hey roosty, will worn rivets/clutch housings cause alloy dandruff in the trans oil?
my clutch basket doesnt appear to have any play by hand, but under load it might have movement that im unaware of.. i was just wondering where the small alloy particles come from after every time i ride and change my oil.i know its not from a spinning bearing and was wondering if youve experienced the same problem before.

i would imagine there could be very small pieces, but aluminum will usually deflect or deform before pieces big enough for damage show up, remember all that wear on the basket fingers is flushed away in the oil too, the rivent area would be un measureable

Got a friend with a KTM 250 that found just that. He would drain the oil after every ride and find some sparkle in the oil every time. Turned out the slight rocking of the ring gear rubbing on the back side of the aluminum basket was the cause. New basket, no more aluminum in oil.thestuz wrote:hey roosty, will worn rivets/clutch housings cause alloy dandruff in the trans oil?

yeah it prob is from the clutch fingers. i changed the plates a while ago and filed the fingers down smooth and that reduced the problem but its still there a bit. and its started to groove out again a bit which is prob where its coming from.

Are you interested in a BRAND NEW clutch basket? I know of 2 places that had them, don't know if they are still there though.
One had an 1982 CR480R part# 22100-KA5-680 OUTER, CLUTCH
The other had a 1983 CR480 part# 22100-KA5-770 OUTER, CLUTCH
Take your pick.
PM me if you are interested.
