Wheels?
Wheels?
I need some advice on new wheels.
I know this is a 500 forum and I have one but I also have a 250.
Bought it in December and knew it needed rear wheel bearings but after taking it apart, the hub is destroyed beyond use.
The numbnutz I bought it from rode the shit out of it and I need a new hub at least.
It's a warp9 black rim and hub setup.
Warp9 seems to be a good price but, I can't tell if it's anygood based on what I have right now.
Is the oem wheel/hub pretty good? I can get a brand new oem rear wheel assembly for around 400.
Now, I'm not going to be thrashing this bike like I would if I were younger but I still want it to last.
Also, does anyone use a 19" wheel on their steelie 500?

Thanks man, I have been looking at ebay but everything seems to be "will fit" crap.
I am building this bike right and don't want any half measures.
I guess my question really should be, should I just get a talon hub and excell rim or is the stock wheel assembly good?
I've heard some say the stock wheel is good but I'd like to know what you guys think about stock wheels versus aftermarket?
btw-The bike is a 2001 CR250 I'm working on.

I wouldnt mind trying out cheap chinese seat covers or stickers on my bike, but I think ill skip on things that can seriously hurt me if they fail...

What! Like a 2006 YZ450F
I think that would be a great idea to skip the 4 JOKE.
What would be a perfect idea is to get a CR500 and an AF donor, then do a conversion.

I've lost count of how many wheels I have for my 2000 cr250's and 2000 500 af's. The warp 9 would be my last choice. You really gotta pay attention to the spokes on them all during breakin but 2X as much with the warp nine. OEM set ups are very light. My tallon hubs are trick and all but I don't think they are any lighter, prolly heavier but they won't snap an ear as easy as a stock cast hub. I have a rear wheel with only 3 tabs for the rear disc. That one will be only for ice riding and prolly should be in the scrap pile.
I pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered oem from ronayers.com. They dropped the price from 403 to 370 something. I don't know why but when I went to the site it was all new. I called to verify the parts were correct and they were. Several parts I was checking dropped in price and those particular parts were the best prices I could find.
A new cylinder for my 250 is around 313 or so. I think the 500 cylinders are in the same ballpark.
Now, stock up on Dunlop 756's at Rockymtn-49.99 each.

Nope, didn't know that. I just know the prices I see on websites. Matter of fact, between the time I first started looking at wheels from just about everywhere, the price went down at ronayers by $25.
Seems like a good place to do business and it's pretty local to me, something I didn't know until I really checked their website out.

Thats because retail prices change all the time. Thats where price matching comes into play...Tharrell wrote: One thing I've learned, there is no one place for best prices on everything.
