MRC500 #2 gen3 cr125 base

Post by Roostius_Maximus »

We've started another conversion, not that there needs to be another 500 on the floor, but my Bro is on a steelie so we'd better get him equipped.

I got a 2004 gen3 CR125 frame from member RobertG
I have an engine or 2 in inventory
I have a swingarm i bought loose, linkage deal in the works
A rear brake that doesnt get used on bro's gen3 250 thats extended
Theres a few wheels in my garage that'll fit it
I bought gen2 radiators off ebay that need some repair, we'll try and take pictures of that
Having shoved a mockup engine in the chassis i know why TTM made that Y section so tall, its all gotta move foreward from the halo down. Time for some ebay billet.
This'll be a slow build no doubt, but it'll be done by thaw.
This and my gen3 swingarm will be getting +1.5" so they're longer and more stabil.
forks and shock will likely come off bros 250 until we find others.

I had a couple of minutes over lunch today to hack the frame apart,
hung the engine on the headstay i made off dimensions from my last build.

That is a tight fit, I never thought there was so much of a difference between the 125 and 250 frame.

The progress is 0
Been too busy, and I don't know where to put the Y with out having radiators mounted, considered moving the rads up so the Y can go taller incase I make a stroker motor later.
I haven't even looked for billet, haven't got any here that big.
Been busy making small pieces, machining engine parts and trying to keep parts coming in for my guys to keep working.
Then ontop of that I have to get the f'n basement renno done, draggin ass on that.

I cut my "Y" back out, and moved it up higher incase I swap in a ol' Air-Cooled 480 pinger....... No rads.....
