On my CRF 450 AF the original steelie kickstart was flogged out so I used the kickstart from a 98 CR 250 and its fits nicely.

Obviously the steelie was designed for the engine, but is there a downside to using the 250 one? Not enough leverage or something?

steelie kicker is longer, stronger, and even the pivot pin is a larger diameter.
