Clear powder coat polished frame??

Post by DitchWitch »

So have any of you fellas polished your alloy frame and had it clear powder coated? Did it work out OK, any tips? Im wanting to bead blast the frame, pollish the outer frame rails and swingarm outer rails and never touch it again. :D

I have seen this done with (vintage) aluminum swing arms and the finish was very good although the powder coater told me it is very difficult to get rid of all the traces of the polish used and there is a risk any residue will yellow the clear coat.

I might get mine anodized this year, I like the flat silver finish. I know there is a place that does it locally but I don't know how much they charge. I've never been impressed with powder coating, it still chips like paint.

Polish the parts during your clean up between rides, my shit is always shinny; but no coating to keep it that way! ELBOW GREASE!

Then she might "help" me by greasing my tires and adding washing up detergent to my coolant....
