Pipe guard shaping??

So Im getting one of those universal pipe guards, the same as the one below, and Im thinking that is something that could turn to chit if you couldn't shape it well, anyone have any tips for getting one of those to fit well?? http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/ ... Armor.aspx

did you already buy it ? i have a brandnew one im never going to use i would sell for alittle cheaper.
