Pumpkin Lobber.....

Post by AlisoBob »

So, I''m at the annual "Pumpkin Toss" over at Cal State Fullerton.... Its a good time to see what the engineering dept comes up with each year....

This was the star of the show this year.....

Image
"Pumpkin Lobber"

A few hundred gallons of compressed air at 125psi....

This thing goes off, without notice or intent, right in the middle of the "Battling Knights" demonstration.... Puts a hole in the scoreboard a few hundred feet down range... The velocity was the speed of light... minus 5 mph. It was friggin' insane!!!!
Image
Hole is about dead center of the Pepsi bottle

Image

The crowd goes nuts, the people near the sign scatter, the announcer freaks.....

The Lobber is IMMEDIATLY disqualified........ I immediatly start a "Bullshit" and "We want the Lobber" chant the whole crowd gets behind....

The Lobber guys start hooping it up too.... get escorted off the field...

The Lobber was number 6 in line.... every time #5 threw... I would restart the "Lobber" cheer..... The announcer would remind the crowd that they were disqualified.... then we would chant even louder....

This thing would have killed anyone in the impact zone.... it was WAY out of hand.......

...it was awesome!

Beg to differ, i think they knew exactly what they were doing ...........that is throw a pumpkin further than all the others.

And the winner is "The Lobber"

my best oxy one was wrapped in chicken wire + duct tape, had to kee the shrapnel in. gave that one away
My pvc one has a RCMP evidence tag on it and had no charges, i hung it in our museum.
I made a "bullet" from cardboard disk, pinched 2 of them at the end of a 5/8 bolt with body washers, 2 more at the back, i put that combo in and out of a 45gal drum from 20ft back with propane+nitrous. I had a fancy 9volt dual selenoid kit so i could load it quicker, potato, apple, frog wapped in papertowel, ice, whatever down the barrel, bump the fuel switch for a second and lite it up.

the buddys over at the cheeze factory brought me a load of stainless scrap, but i think im outta that game

FROG - LMFAO!!!

I shoved foam in the barrel and shot my friend in the ass from 10' away - said it felt like getting kicked in the ass....HARD!

Then I made some CO2 bombs - got the tater gun ready to go. Lit fuse and launched...made for a cool mid-air explosion!
