ID'ing FMF pipe
ID'ing FMF pipe
My pipe says FMF gold series, but doesn't say gnarly or fatty. Just says "feel the power" under the logo. What is it?

your about 15 years off. the pipe he has is old skool, even before the fatty im pretty sure. the one i seen didnt have the extra plate.caseyracing222 wrote:yes, did it crack on the extra welded on plate with the 2 holes drilled into it?484 wrote:speaking of welds, I had to weld it as it cracked quite badly in the big bend that comes out to the left of the bike. this is the second time it happened. Is this common?
Bingo! That one pre-dates the fatty. Betcha it's pretty light feeling too! Original Gold Series were pretty thin-walled IIRC...100hp honda wrote:your about 15 years off. the pipe he has is old skool, even before the fatty im pretty sure. the one i seen didnt have the extra plate.caseyracing222 wrote:yes, did it crack on the extra welded on plate with the 2 holes drilled into it?484 wrote:speaking of welds, I had to weld it as it cracked quite badly in the big bend that comes out to the left of the bike. this is the second time it happened. The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
well I've never held any 500 pipes but mine but it definitely isn't heavy. I've thought about calling fmf but am a little skeptical about them knowing more than some of you guys, especially on such an apparently old product.
It only has one ding! speaking of, I guess freezing it is out as it will also pop out the factory indents that help it clear frame and whatnot?

It was on bike when I go tit, so I've been running it. I haven't ridden any other 500s so I don't have a reference. It does make awesome power down low for sure, but like I said I have no idea how it compares. Excuse the grey paint, I thought I was buying CLEAR vht, I wanted works look. Now I have the scratched up grey look!

Did you ever get any more info on this pipe? I have the same dilemma. I have a FMF pipe that just says Gold Series with Dons signature below. I compared it to a Gnarly I have. Its about 1/4 " larger in circumference at the fattest part of the bend. I then compared it to a Fattty and it measures about the same as it. Im gonna put it on and run it. ..
Any thoughts?
Thanks
