well, could be legit. 500 pipes are meant to broaden the powerband, but if a narrow powerband pipe was designed, it would hit HARD, and have more peak power. great pipe for the dunes.

i believe to accomplish this, the last cone that leads to the stinger would have to be made more abrupt, instead of a nice smooth funnel shape.

and by looking at that pipe, compared to any other 500 pipe i have seen on member's bikes here, that last cone is indeed quite abrupt.

this guy is selling a bike with one of them pipes from that company.

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad ... =236&lpid=

$300 is about the going rate for that pipe because they've already figured out the dimensions and made a jig..........so its just a matter of welding the pipes together. if you were to call and have a special one off pipe made, then it would probly be $400 because they would have to calculate all the new dimensions and re-cut all the cone peices, and they probly need the bike to make sure theres no clearance issues around the front tire and radiators. making the first pipe is the hard part, after they get the initial design figured out, making 1000 more is easy. CPI pipes are good, packard uses them exclusivley on his drag banshees, and his machines are known for being some of the fastest around. i took some photos when i was at his shop, ALL his drag bikes use CPI.

I dint notie the final cone shape when I posted, I was looking at the size of the chamber and how far it wrapped near the stator.

Its definatly bigger and shorter at the last cone,

I agree on the cookie cutter pipes. It's too bad the two most prominent pipes we have aren't legitimately better than a stocker...just a bit different. I would like to see a FMF SST available for the 500s for a change. It's pathetic that two stroke open expansion chamber technology and design has come so far in the last 15 years...but if you're not familiar with two strokes outside the dirt bike market you wouldn't know that :(

I still think the manufacturer has taken "some" liberties by saying it produces over 9hp MORE than the competition. I think this is clearly an advertisement bullet used like K&N for instance. They may produce a single product for one particular model bike that does in fact perform as advertised...the rest are, "results may very". Point being I don't believe an expansion chamber even tuned for a narrow spread of power can produce aprox. 15hp over the stocker. Shit if it just produced 9hp more than the OEM pipe that would be an incredible feat in itself!

Basically I would be wasting approx $500 on an FMF / PC pipe for little or no gain.

The stocker I have has no dents and very little rust.

If someone thinks the PC / FMF are better, tell me how and where because $500 is a lot of money to spend when there is no improvement over stock. :?

i talked to the designer of the pipe. seemed like a nice guy. he didnt say much i didnt already know though. the gnarly sucks balls and kills top end, the PC is about 2hp less than a stocker, the fatty was pretty good. the test bike had some porting but makes a pretty solid 8hp-9hp increase up top with the pipe. he went on to say he designed it for power, not sissy bullshit like riding trails or motocross.
