CR500 Motor (89)

Post by DesertCR »

Anyone in need of a CR500 motor? I've got an 89 that was going to be my AF donor but I need to move and cant take it with me, along with a bunch of other stuff. A little about the motor: I freshend up the bottom end with new bearings, seals, and gaskets. I did not touch the crank although it was real close to the service limit, no up and down play. The cylinder is on its first overbore 89.25mm with a Pro X piston and seriously has less than 10 hrs on it. I built the motor, put it in a steely and parted the steely and the motor has been sitting every since. I'm letting everything go with it: motor, carb, complete electrical, pipe, and a PC spark arrestor. The sparky is 91+. THe motor ran good, a little low on compression (tested at 115 psi before I pulled it) but good power off the line. I will add that the bottom of the cases were welded (couple of chips) and more importantly when I was taking the left case main bearing out I accidently chipped a part of the lip that holds the main seal in, I also had that fixed and it came out real good. Seemed like it sealed up real good. (thank god for good welders) I never did a leak test but the motor lumped pretty good and would die if not revved occasionally. I need to move by the end of this month and so it must go. I'm willing to let a hoon get it for $675, that includes everything. Shoot me an email or even call me at 619-964-3133. I'm a straight shot guy, I've only dealt with a few hoons on the board but I'm sure they'll tell that I did them right. I think its a pretty good deal and could probably get more for it on ebay but I'd figure I'd try here first.

Yeah, I spent over half of that just on the rebuild, all OEM gaskets, seals, and bearings. I did forget to mention that the pipe has a bend in it that makes it touch the left rad a little, but other than that its good to go. Motor ran strong, a little low on compression because the machine shop didnt do the best job, it was close to the limit on the end gap after I got it back.

where are you located and how low will you go? If compression is down because the machine shop did a crappy job i can bet it will need a proper bore/hone and piston put in.. Where is this located?

Heres my address: 11101 Lea Terrace Dr, Santee CA 92071. The bore looked good I just think the tolerances were a little on the loose side. The thing ran good, and idled. I'll try to take more pics here soon.

Bloody wife won't let me sleep out there unless I let the dog in. :?

Ok so I've decided to lower the price. I'm moving in a week and need to sell the motor and not to mention give a hoon a great deal. So I'll take $500 for everything but that means no shipping, you must pick it up. For that price I dont want to go through the hassle of shipping and etc. And thats my final offer, cant go any lower than that. Shit you can bring your bike down and put it in and run up the street if you'd like. :D
