Top end question

Post by eyesky2002 »

Putting a new top end on my 500.... Piston was a ProX 89.25 with normal 2-3 years of cylinder wear.

Local shop has good reputation with local racers with their bore jobs and are comparable to costs (minus shipping) of Glen and others. Issue is if I get the piston kit, bearing, gasket kit from them it would be $275 with sales tax for the parts alone.

Mail order options:

Motosport - Wiseco 89.50 kit, bearing and top end gasket $215.00 shipped
or
eBay - Wiseco 89.75 kit, bearing and top end gasket $195.00 shipped

Funds are really tight and I want to ride sooner then later, should I just go the next size up or be super cheap and try to save the $20.00 and go to .75 over rather then .50? Would I get a better chance at better bore if I went with the .75 over or am I just wasting .25 of my cylinder walls?

Well that does cost about $30.00 less, which would cover the shipping to Glen.

Hmmm :?

It definitely sucks when you have to consider the almighty dollar in every decision you make.
