Add $700 for Surf and turf balanced crank/rod and new prox topend and you have one expensive 500 motor. My Fuggin wallet Hurts :!:
You have $1700 in a basically stock rebuild?

I would have bought another bike instead...

Mine is going to the grave w/ me, At least the motor is.

cast single ring. I would have prefered double ring, no one asked me when I ordered it. I had swaintech strip the beak in coating and put TC9 on the skirt and TCB on the dome. I got a bit crazy about the build though, nikasiled the cylinder using a tourque plate as well.

Your sounding like my wife Bob!

Fuck it i cant think of more worthy cause.. I could have bought a new used motor, but I wanted something nice for my AF, i just couldn't bring myself to put in another loose motor. I figure I will have a very fresh 500 that should last me years at the AZ racetracks and Glamis.

Why waste your time earning money if you are not going to spend it.

I like the wiseco pistons for my 250 I dont think I will ever use one in my 500 though, I like the oem honda piston I beat on it all day reving it to the moon and it still looks brand new and so does the bore it both have about 60hrs on them. just my $.02

update:

I called Glen today to discuss a new Wiseco and he talked me into sending my jug over for some porting and to have it cleaned up and setup perfectly for the wiseco. His prices are very resonable. I also was able to return the Prox piston for a refund so that worked out ok.

Glen mentioned that i wouldn't really loose that much with the Pro-x, maybe some on top. i have ran 3 through this bore and have not had one single problem with them. i figure its time for it to be measured and possible bored to the next size over. Maybe i have been missing something this whole time on this motor? it always felt healthy to me..

Then why on his "race motors" does his cooling/lubricating holes encroach into the exhaust area, Ive had two pistons machined by glen and on both you can see the holes throught the exhaust manifold (loosing primary compression)

Dont get me wrong that motor has take a LOT of abuse and is still holding awsome compression but this is a big issue with me......

I think the issue they are discussing is the cut outs around the piston pin on the pro-X itself.
When you look up the exhaust port you can see a gap between the side of the port and the piston.
That gap is looking into the pocket around the piston pin.
The gap is on both sides of the piston.
If I am wrong I am sure someone will throw a brick at me.
