PWK questions
PWK questions
I searched and read, including Bob's sticky's but I'll jump in with a couple of questions.
I'm considering putting the PJ from my 500 on my 490 maico and putting a PWK 38 on the 500.
are all PWK's air strikers?
I'm all about low end and mid so I am thinking the 38 or 39 is all I need, no dunes or any wide open stuff here. Is this a correct assumption?
my understanding is not to expect any miraculous power increase (which I don't need anyway) but maybe a cleaner throttle response.
damn I sold dredge a 38 airstriker from a KTM 125 I parted out for peanuts a couple of years ago ):

Re: PWK questions
No they are not What I have read Air Strikers are better for topend riding and some of the NON Air Strikers can be made into a Airstriker.

Re: PWK questions
Wrong. Airstrikers are desinged to increase carb signal at low throttle positions. Their very design impedes air flow and therefore would hinder WFO throttle air flow.honda02 wrote:No they are not What I have read Air Strikers are better for topend riding and some of the NON Air Strikers can be made into a Airstriker.
Here is a couple pics of both designs:

More than likely not even a Dyno could tell the difference in WFO performance. As you can see in the pics the upper carb is the Airstriker, I find it hard to believe you could "make" a standard carb into and Airstriker. You could however do the oposite pretty easy by removing the vanes.

Yota, will will get Exactly what you & Lewisclan describe from a PWK.
I fitted PWKs to both my 86 500 & 89 320 Maicos, think 500 was std PWK, 320 AS - it's a long time ago. Both obtained from Sudco, with minimal jetting changes needed. So much better than the Bing, it wasn't funny.
But you won't find any extra top end - the Bings really worked well when opened out to just a big hole.

I've been using Pats for a long time, shipping has never been over 7 or 8 bucks and they don't care if you order 1 item or 20.
