Mik's Gen 4 CRF250
I have finally started work on this thing after buying the chassis back in Nov. I'm going back and forth on how to do the frame. Order a square tube die for my bender and do the whole cradle, or do the frame like Bob's. I think I'm leaning toward Bob's design because I really want to go riding soon! I should have a decent motor by next week ( found a 98 in NJ), suspesion goes in this week for a rebuild and luckily my chassis came with the stiffer spring rates I run. Roost should have the head after I get it for the decomp and Glen will have the cylinder. Just need to round up a carb and lace a rear wheel for the wider rim I have. A little more parts gathering and I should be in biz and ready to roost some red dirt out here.

I've got the metal that you sent for your version and thanks again. I have another frame that I'm going to do the cradle on, but it looks like this one is going to be your design. I have the serious itch to get my ass in shape and go riding so I'm looking to do another 2-3 month build.AlisoBob wrote:I've been saving some tubing for you!!!

If you have the time, do the complete cradle as they look sweet.
The one gregrobo did looks absolutely amazing.
As it is your project you will have to make that decision.
The CRF frame definitely looks better with a CR500 engine in it thats for sure.
Bobs bike also came out great.
This build should come out good regardless of which way you decide to go.

aw man your makin me blush
seriously the full cradle isnt that much more work if you have all the gear but hey if its done right either is good in my book.
mik if you cut the engine mounts off neat you can reuse them and you said you bought a bender all the right ingredients and bobs got the tube bargain.
has anyone on here used a tungsten tipped 5 inch cutting disc?

Exactly, I'm not going to create more work when I'm trying to make less. I really do not see a point in a couple more degrees anyway, not at this point in the game at least. Maybe if I was 20 years younger and still could ride like I used to, but those days are long gone.AlisoBob wrote:Then the motor to pipe / airbox alignment is all goofed up....100hp honda wrote:... so you can rotate the motor more

Lets not clutter up Mik329's thread, but let me tell you that my rails are not "soft". The actual differences between your 6061-T6 and my 6063-T6 are negligible. I plan to use a skidplate anyways, (as I hope you do) because I want protect my investment. Cases & frame bottoms ALWAYS should be protected by a skidplate IMO.
