So does this mean the birth of another CR500AF. SOON!
roger. I have friday off so a couple of weeknight evenings, friday and saturday and maybe if nothing goes sideways I can ride it sunday. We need a fingers crossed emoticon. Had an all damn day rain in the woods today.
I know that Maico was ment to be ridden but that to nice of a clasic bike to be tearing it up I would be scared of destroying that Maico.
Plus I bet getting part for can't be easy to find either or cheep.
A old School Air Cooled bike is my nexted project.
I want a bike just like you'r Maico or Old A fire engine RED 1979 CR250 or 450 even A Husky.
I jelous of you Maico.

man I totally disagree, these things were built to be ridden, they are just machines. some of my other vintage bikes just sit mostly in my garage and it just seems wrong, should sell the damn things so the can get on a track in some ahrma events. the maico parts are still out there so that doesn't worry me.
I agree with you Yota, ride the hell out of that thing. A lot of people would call the CR500 vintage as well. You should post up some pictures of your other bikes. Hopefully you get your donor tomorrow and you can finally start posting your build!
BBB!

Who gives a crap what order it's in...

I think I've got pics of most of them on this thread or another one. btw I saw a guy riding a very nice air cooled CR big bore (480?) yesterday.
sounded pretty bad ass.

thanks. I put a set of 2004 showa 49mm conventional forks on it and it goes amazingly fast in the big sand whoops here. I am haveing some trouble dialing in the jetting though since I ditched the bing carb. seems to be jetted right and then changes after 40 minutes or so of hard riding. seems to lean out.
Not to get off the subject here, but I can't resist chiming in.

just got a call from a warehouse downtown, my stuff is there, arrived last night. they say they will get it to my office very late today or early tomorrow. I told him I would be backing my truck up to his loading dock in about 45 minutes (:
Bet you can't wait! I felt a little of your pain this past weekend.
I had every intention of having the first ride on my build this past Sunday.
Suspension guy has my forks and was waiting on one part. Was due to pick it up Saturday am and have them done and to me that afternoon. Turns out the part was wrong! In desparation to ride as planned I pulled one of the forks off the donor 97 just to see if it might work. No such luck. OD of older forks are just slightly too large for the newer triple clamps. Hoping like hell this weekend will be the one.
Anyway, hope you get everything you expected!
