cool, good to see you got her going well. still keep trying with you choke circuit though i reckonCR500PHIL wrote:Well this poor tuning worked - I put the 175 main in a bang the bike rips. PJ38 Choke Question
Re: PJ
13 isnt unlucky i just keep falling off
Re: PJ
Yes there has to be something I am missing - I mean the choke should work and the air screw is definitely at the best setting ie. when the bike responds the best - 2.25 turns out. Perhaps being so far out suggests the low jetting is still a little off and affecting the choke.coley13 wrote:cool, good to see you got her going well. still keep trying with you choke circuit though i reckonCR500PHIL wrote:Well this poor tuning worked - I put the 175 main in a bang the bike rips. i know this isnt related to the topic, but on sunday my bike was acting up on starting near the end of the ride, the dammn choke wasnt threaded down all the way on my pwk, must not hve been tight and crawled out

Choke
I am convinced my bike is running rich in the pilot circuit and I bet this is causing my choke woes (not enough air in the starter jet) - all logic and signs point to this. I am going to swap for a smaller pilot jet and try.Roostius_Maximus wrote:i know this isnt related to the topic, but on sunday my bike was acting up on starting near the end of the ride, the dammn choke wasnt threaded down all the way on my pwk, must not hve been tight and crawled out

Re: Choke
I replaced the 55 pilot jet with a 50 and the carb now works perfectly - choke functions as it should and the bike idles perfectly. Basically my problem was my bike was lean as 3/4 throttle or so and rich in the pilot circuit. If you read Alisobob's jetting thoughts this is exactly the trends he pinpoints and a thanks to Bob for putting me onto the cause. I am now running 50 pilot and 175 main and the bike sounds awesome. Thanks to Danny Graves as well for mentioning the lack of air in the pilot circuit could cause the choke / idle not to function.CR500PHIL wrote:I am convinced my bike is running rich in the pilot circuit and I bet this is causing my choke woes (not enough air in the starter jet) - all logic and signs point to this. True - I was sitting at my computer writing code and I thought - wait a minute - bang - epiphany or I woke up - one or the other.dannygraves wrote:CR500PHIL wrote:I replaced the 55 pilot jet with a 50 and the carb now works perfectly - choke functions as it should and the bike idles perfectly. I HATE writing code!
I hear you - at least I work from home so I can go out with the bike during lunch hour.
