I'll never buy an RK chain again, this is after ONE weekend on it.
Thing stretched like 10 feet and just about every link was cracked.

My Old KTM560 had a RK on it if I keeped the bke I was going to put a DID X-Ring chain on it.
The RK did not seem like a very good chain to me it had about 40 hours on it and it wore out sprockets also.
I stsy with DID X-Ring chains.
I picked my last DID up from Moto X out let for $79.99

did gold x-ring I've got one thats been shooting hills at dumont for over 2 years and still looks tits
I won't run a std chain on a 500, has to be an x-ring. the "stretch" standard chains get is from lack of lubrication and dirt between the pins and holes. Combine that w/ 500 power and its a failure waiting to happen.

Anytime I had a DID on my last Honda for 8 or 9 years great chain loved it i sold my old CR with the same chain on the bike.
BUT the chain you will get is a rivet type chain Good and bad they don't fall off during riding but you must cut the master link off when you need to remove the chain.
This is the best price I have found for a DID 520 VM X Ring 120 Link chain look around everyone esle wants $130.00 or more for the same chain.

You'r lucky you chain didn't fly off and damage you'r cases I seen once along time ago when I use to race a chain came off went thought the rear fender and smack the rider in the back you know that had to hurt bad, he was moving pretty good when he broke his chain.

Mate, you are lucky you didn't end up with trashed cases from that. I've only ever seen that amount of cracking ( video showed well ) on cheap crap chains, or ones rated for only small capacity use - this one being rated for up to 500cc on dirt, so that can't be the cause.
I'd contact who you bought this from & let them know - if you can I'd do another video , showing a full rotation, shown from both sides (One thing that RK may jump on is the wear that is shown on the plates, from roughly 9.30 to 1 & 11 to 2.30 as per a clock face - would not be surprised if they cited sprocket misalignment - if it's on the side not shown in pics in the same pattern that would nix that accusation) as that may save you having to return it before a refund.
For that many to crack, and it's not been run tight / severely misaligned or run too loose ( on the back of an RK GB520EXW box I have here, as well as warning about too tight a chain it states "If a chain is too loose, it will whip and surge and eventually break", so be wary of saying you run it loose like you have said in your post ) I would say they may have a batch of faulty plates, either inferior metal or botched heat treatment, and there will be potentially a lot of chains out there doing this.
The RK I mentioned above has been on my CRE for approx. 4000km - did precisely the opposite in that the top & bottom of the plates wore flat in next to no time on all new rollers & guides - suggesting soft surface hardening on the plates. But other than that, I think I've only put one turn of the adjuster bolt into the chain in that time. But I will be replacing it soon because of the wear on the plates, as I'm worried about the plates cracking like yours - mine would have every right to , but yours is surely a dud chain.

Did you get you'r new chain yet and if so how do you like it.
Like I said before I had a RK O-Ring chain on my last bike 2006 KTM 560 RFS I put 50 hours on it the chain started to eat sprockets I was not real impressed with the RK I had a DID X-Ring on the bike before that for 8 or 9 years besides the gold color wore off the side plates it was still just like new with steel sprokects never gave me any issues.
The KTM put out 63 Horses out lots of power to the rear wheel lot more than the bike that it replaced but I think the DID would of last longer.
