Conversion info?

Post by TrxR »

I was wondering what you thought was the best year and model frame for a AF conversion for something that will be rode in the woods with a 6'3 250+ rider? What year motor should I look for? And is there and good how to's or kits to help locate the motor in the right place?

Thanks

do a gen-3 250 chassis, 02-07 cr250
modern chassis, great parts availability, 10x easier to convert than a gen-4, kick ass handling and performance.
find my gen-3 thread, todars the end I rate all different conversion based on my own experience.

The 02-07 CR125 frames are similar to the CR250, but the steering head angle is steeper.
This causes an interferance between the front wheel and exhaust pipe , but only slightly, no biggy though.
The engine cradle is the major difference between the two frames, it has to be almost completely replaced and new lower engine mounts made and welded on.
The Y section still needs to be raise like the 250 also.
To be honest there is not much differance between the two, it can and has been converted almost as easy as the CR250 02-07.
It is up to you which of these two frames you would like to use.
I hope this helps.
Also lots of info on this site, take a good look around you will be amazed.
