The entire crowd of C.M. Speedway is shouting " DONT DO IT!!!! ", but Rick mans up to do the dirty deed anyways....
KA-POW!.... there goes the end of his finger!
The motor stops, and 9 guys ( yea..I counted them) rush out to make sure the BIKES o.k. !! Rick is standing there with 9 fingers and a smoldering glove while they look over the bike with great concern.
By now shock has pretty much taken over, so much so that Rick wants to get bumped off, and restart the race.
I look over at my friend Jason and ask him.... " Did you see anyone fix the throttle?" He shrugs ..No.
So , off he goes.. the motor lights ( Still WFO of course) and there goes Rick, right into the turn 4 crashwall, and lays it down again!
I'm laughing so hard ( Sorry Rick ) that I miss the shutdown of the bike this time. I dont beleive that Rick lost another digit though.....
I catch up to him in the pits.... where I find his finger heavily wrapped.
Rick tells me that " I lost the whole nail, and the end of my finger looks like shit.... whole end of it is blown off..... man it hurts......"
I have visions of one of the those trick exploding cigars...
I hope Ricks recovers soon.... man that had to hurt...
