Air filter brands?

well, after my last one that was brand new watching it dissolve in gas, i want to hear it from you guys.

What kind of filter should i buy, that wont dissolve when washing it the old fashioned way (gas then soapy water)?

IMHO, don't use gas to clean the filter because the closed cell foam and glue is pretty much the same independent of brand. Use turpentine (old school), air filter cleaner, or just soapy water (No Toil approach). Personally I have a bucket of Twin Air cleaner that I use break down the old oil and then I get the soaked filter clean with soapy water. If you want to buy a reputable product, go No Toil, OEM, Twin Air or Uni (alphabetical order).

No Toils disintegrate in gas, UNI's don't.

If you are going to go the No Toil route, only clean it with the No Toil system.

And if I recall, the opposite is also true. I may be mistaken on that though...

UNI by far the best!

I know this guy that knows this guy that works for UNI and I put the call into him so you can get the right 411 on filters.

Maybe he will post something here but he has to register first.

my last filter didnt dissolve in gas, it just tore cause it was getting old.

i guess if you cleaned the ReadyFilter with a non-solvent it would be a great filter, dual stage, and it filtered perfect.

Ive always used TwinAir on my bike as well as my sons and have never had any problems with them.

I use UNI and believe it or not simple green and hot water in the bathroom sink work far better than any of those expensive filter cleaners and doesn't damage the glue at all.
I don't think there was anything actually wrong with twin air filters, just that one may have been washed using gas by a previous owner. The fact is, I've never had a uni fall apart...never, but I have seen twin airs fall apart, oem fall apart and I've torn down motors for friends who use ready filters and found more dirt in the bottomend than oil.
UNI has been proven time and time again, and you can pickup one on ebay for ~$15-$20 from like atvunlimited or some other ebay stores. they are more like $30 at the stealerships.
you don't have to use the uni specific oil or cleaner either.
