funny you say that, my tank doesn't touch anything, yet it still doesn't rest w/ 2 sides on the rubber, instead only one of the 2 sides rests there... kinda weird.

I didn't try grounding any of the wires, but w/o the regulator plugged in it wouldn't spark. the servo ran off the same coil as the cdi and since its all digital, it probably needs the cap to spark at low rpms (starting)4Z wrote:Lookin good DG!!
Question, why do you need the reg and cap? I assume there is a "lighting" coil that ran the servo. If that is the case, can't you just ground the lighting coil and toss the reg/cap?
all of the wires for the servo come out of the cdi, so I'm just guessing the cdi needs the regulated voltage.
the weird thing is the stator has 2 sets of coils and one w/o any wires connected. I'm thinking about hooking up some wires and see what kind of power comed out. might work for a low power headlight.

not to hijack danny, just thought i give you insight about how one industries operates. one industries wont sell the graphics without buying the whole plastic kit, what a gay rule if you ask me but whatever. they could have a ton more business selling graphics seperate but they choose not too.....they must have a genious with a masters degree in business running their show, so the hell with them. i laughed and hung the phone up when they told me that, then had my own graphics made. most any graphics shop will make whatever you want....draw a pic and they will make it.DesertCR wrote:Where can one buy the white Honda graphics? They look bitchen.
Thanks 100HP, I actually just purchased the 04-06 factory FX graphics, they are the stock look alikes, but I really like the white ones. Its the David Bailey kit huh? Maybe I could just have some custom white ones like yours made or a copy of the exact ones that One Ind sells. BTW what a gay business decision.

decal works probly still has the white honda wing on file, if you decide to purchase some later down the road, (or you can design your own). for me it worked out great because i didnt want a whole plastic kit, as i already had new plastics. carry on brotha danny, your bikes looking sweet. didnt mean the highjack

ITS ALIVE!!!! she runs!
I couldn't ride her yet because the carb was leaking everywhere, the front tire was flat, I didn't finish the silencer mount and the wife was yelling at me that she had to leave and I had to come inside.
I getting a carb I sold to justin 3 years ago back from him today since mine is fubar, the choke/idle knob is fucked and thefloat needle/seat assembly is too. Bob, I'm gonna be calling you with Q's about the sudco 41mm pwk deal
after the kids went down to bed I couldn't find my 10mm 1/4" drive socket anywhere, so I cleaned the garage until midnight. threw out enough bike shit to fill 3 trash cane a brought a few hundred lbs of scrap metal to work, so add to their pile. I have '86 parts no one wanted to buy, '89 parts, serveral seats of steelie parts on top of that, piles of crf airboots, handle bars, and a pile of old drum brake wheels. I've offered to give away a lot of these parts and people don't wnat them for free....
anyway, back on topic, she fired 2nd kick and I can't wait to ride on the 250 ignition! I'm picking up that old PJ today so we can ride this weekend!
oh, and as far as timeline, I did the frame last september and bought and tore down the motor around the same time. I got the motor together about a week ago and since then it was a matter of waiting for parts, then waiting for more parts after losing some parts
If I had all the parts lined up and didn't have to wait on anyone, I could have don't the whole thing in a weekend. Gen-3's are a peice of cake.
IMHO the easiest conversion. I'd rather reloacate a Y than all the other crap you have to do to a gen-1. no need for a conversion kit for a gen-3 either, use a 125 swingarm spacer, make front mounts out of 1/4" plate, use factory front bolt instead of tracking down the long sucker, to heating the tank, no messing with the airbox, no messing with exhaust tabs, plenty of room, no control cables pressed against the head, no Y for coolant lines, etc. etc. if I did another conversion it would be a gen-3, I will never do another gen-4, what a massive PITA.

hey, I cleaned my cubicle up 2 weeks ago in time for the owner of the company coming back from her cruise... I mostly piled the mess up in the empty cubicle next door and in the server roomAlisoBob wrote:KE 336 wrote: As for your garage, I'd feel right at home!

Hey Danny,
I made 2 gen3's that way and it is fairly easy.
I thought next step would have been to make a gen 4 but I am changing my mind because of fabricating issues toward rewards.
Is a gen 4 a better handling bike than a gen3? I mean better that an average rider would be able to tell the difference?
I can tell you a gen 3 is way better than a gen 1 for my kind of riding but I haven't rode a gen4 long enough to tell.

I will be able to tell you for sure this weekend but honestly, I doubt any benefits of a gen-4 vs gen-3 would out weigh the benefits of just how much easier a gen-3 conversion is.

yeah, the chain will have to be adjusted, it was fine on the stand, then I rolled it around and it got some more slack must just be because they are brand new chain and sprockets.
I know that silencer is fugly, but I freaken love that thing... its super quiet (a whole lot quieter than the fmf Q), I noticed (on the gen-4) that I had more controlable torque fromn the back pressure, its a proper spark arrenstor and best of all it was free ninety nine
I will probably order a PC sparkey from SH that has the gen-3 mounts eventually.

thanks mang!
I don't want to ruin it for everyone, but I think the gen-3 250 cdi sucks... for some reason this time it was super hard to start and wouldn't keep running at low rpms, I messed w/ the carb, even swapped it out for a different carb and the only way it would start was the stupid SH style rabbit kick it kept dieing when I would slow down to go around a corner and with the idle screw all the way out it still wouldn't idle. my main was too fat and blubbery, so I couldn't tell what the higher rpm performance was like.
