Clutch slipping, stumped

Post by LOVEMYCR500 »

I am stumped and haven't had this kind of problems ever with a clutch. After replacing my stock clutch basket (big time grooved) with a hinson basket, new stock inner hub (grooved and worn) Honda stock fibers and steel clutch plates, clutch rod and actuator arm, Barnett heavy springs, oil level from the service manual and clutch free play at the clutch lever from the service manual, my clutch still slips. I look at the clutch plates after running and slipping, (have a couple long weekend rides on this thing) the plates look brand new. It's like the clutch isn't completely engaging.

I will call hinson and ask it the baskets are slightly larger than the stock basket but it appears I might need another steel plate. The Honda service manual shows max and min thickness for the fiber plates, but not the steel plates. I will go down and mic the stock aluminum plates vs the steel ones but That's the only thing I can think of.

I am using either belray or maxima tranny oil.

Give me your thoughts.

old stack is gone. I will have to look at the service manual again and see if it gives overall stack dimensions. I don't think it does. I called hinson the basket manufacturer, they are giving me a clutch pack dimension.
