gen 3 2003 CR250r Conversion carb fitment

Post by Roostius_Maximus »

i'd thought i had this all sorted out before, but now that i hang all my crap in the chassis at the same time i cant get proper alignment. I've got an 89-01 style jug, tried the stock reed + boot, too short, with a reed spacer it wasnt going to work either. I stuck a reed spacer, 88 reed, 86 reed boot on it and it stacks up nice for length, but the airbox side is dammn low and trys to lever the carb and flange ff the jug.
Does the 125 boot correct the height? is the 86 reed boot queer? should i use an 87-88 style, or the newer?

Its in the chassis and rideable right now, but i dont like it

use an '89+ boot, they are way different, I have a pic of them side by side in my gen-1 build thread.

I had the same issue when I tried the '86 boot on my gen-1. the '89+ is on the right. it will get pushed down a little, but should fit a lot better.

Well mine has stock everything, 03 frame, 00 motor.

Its a pain, but I get the carb on, tighten the clamp, then take the airbox loose from the subframe, get the boot on, tighen clamp, then bolt the box to the frame. Works everytime, but if you have to take the subframe off for something else then the box has to come loose again to get the boot on right.
