Remove weight from Wiseco piston ProLite

Post by Janne »

Hi,

I have a piston from Eric Gorr that I think is a Wiseco "Pro-Lite", part no. 636M08900.
I measured the weight and got 436 grams without rings, pin or bearing and was a little disspointed. I think OEM is well below 400 gram, seen numbers in the 380 area. The Wiseco doen't have any windows so I thought I could mill them myself, so the question is how much could I take away? and where?

Any advice, please, or maybe a picture.

if you look around you can find some pics of older wisecos before they started selling us the "boat anchor"
I'm sure you could mill it down, but the cr500 isn't really a fast turning motor, so the piston weight makes a marginal difference. on my dunes bike I went from and old style to a new style and didn't notice the difference.

I'm doing it for less vibrations as I'm in the middle of balancing my crank and I think it was mick who had a piston that weighted 267 grams, which I believe was an older ProLite.

My Duramax has cast pistons.... A 30+ psi boost diesel.

Guys take them up to 800hp, no issues.

I'll never understand this Wiesco thing for a stock, N/A , non N20 application.

IF they now come full round skirt i may consider running one coated, but a genie is going to have to pop out of my oil filler cap with $ for that one.

You can't balance a 500. Just put it together and ride.
