What is the story on the tin on the crank? Does it need to be there? What
is its purpose? what are the effects of removing it? My crank should arrive at Surf & Turf tomorrow, So I have options.
I think it was a kind of crank stuffer? I don't have it anymore and I couldn't tell you one way or the other it might have effected anything. If you sent it to STR I would have told you to take it off yourself and save $100 that they're gonna charge to do it for you...too late.
I removed the crank casing on my 125 conversion. It also has a cr250 ign on it.It seems to rev up really fast. Will let you know how it runs when i ride it, just waiting on the pipe to show up. It seems to rev so fast that the front forks compress!
The tins seal the voids.
Remove the tins and you end up w/more crankcase volume.
Less volume = a stronger exhaust pulse.
The minimal savings in rotational mass doesn't outweigh the possibly of hurting performance.
