The last time I rode my bike, It was a 25 mile round trip to the track which I rode the 500 to. I also busted some teeth out and probably got a concussion there when I decided to leave. For some reason i couldn't get the thing over 50mph on the way home and it was running like shit in the upper rpms that i needed for highway speeds. Since I had just changed the jetting for colder weather, I figured the main fell out or something.
Well i was getting my bike ready for the spring the other day and decided to fire it up. I kicked it about 20 times before I realized that something was wrong. If it doesn't fire in 3, something is very wrong. Well I walked around the thing and noticed the muffler had a solid dirt plug in it. Once I dug that out and put the plug boot on, It fired first kick. So how bout that? I rode the thing for 12 miles with the exhaust completely blocked. The only exhaust escape would have been through the rubber seal thing that goes over the stinger/silencer tubes that got blown out.

I'd rather be hauling ass
Same thing happened to my CR250 the last time I went over the bars at the track
2" of solid dirt plugged in the silencer!

My cousin rode his '93 CR500 on 25 miles of single track with straight fuel before it crossed his mind. Rode the bike two seasons following that before rebuilding.
A friend of mine, and Honda mechanic, cracked his case on a rock and finished 35 miles of a 50 mile trail ride. Come to find out at the truck that evening his cases were empty. We can only guess just how long he rode with no oil...could have been a mile, could have been 34??
Lastly, I rode a full moto with a wasted water pump seal. Prepping my bike for the next moto I discovered NO WATER! Again, exactly how long I rode with no water is anybody's guess. But the moto was 40 minutes and the system was bled completely dry by the finish.
You can't stop these bikes...
Anybody else care to tell a story or two?
