inlet manifold options ?

what other options is out there besides stock peeps ?? tried and tested opinions would be cool too , what aftermarket ones are there ?

The Boyesen Rad Valve comes with a manifold. That's the only one that I know of.

boyesen, vforce 2 and 3 but i think the 3 needs some slight mods to work but thats a story for another day. theres also probly a few lesser know brands on ebay or parts websites

cheer guys , looks like the boysen is the one , looks good and u can get stock reeds for it too , and from reading stock seems to be the right reed for the cr500

i had my reeds out few weeks ago. seems like stocker use 4 screws, boyesen uses 3. maybe you could niggyver it to fit but doubtful it would run worth a shit

I used a set of carbon-tech or something in my 86 engine, they were for increased low end power on a stock cage, I'll buy them again for sure

I used them for years till I started using NOS they didn't like that at all..

I run the boysen CF reeds with nitrous and so far no issues.

Here's an intake question. I was in a hurry last week to get a new intake as mine had a crack in it. Anyway, I rushed and bought something on ebay without comprehending the description, I though he had taken off the little tabs that help you pull the boot onto the carb, but in reality the rubber fins that go into the reed cage have been removed.

Is this going to have a big effect on the reeds? The inside is now just flush across the opening

thats what you have to do to use vforce reeds. just run it, you won't get as good of intake velocity, but its definitly better than a leaky one.

I'll probably have to get a vforce one now too

The cage is a little messed up now anyway. I can't get two of the fins to lay flat when I tighten the screws.

how did you bend the cage ? ive never heard of that happening

I didn't bend it! Not sure how it happened I've only owned it for about 2 years. My BIL did the AF conversion, I just noticed last year after redoing the top end that the reeds did not seat flat. I assumed it was the reeds and got new ones, but after installing those with similar results I see its the reed cage (stops).

did you try flipping the reeds over? I have had this problem before.. Mostly with Boyeson 2-stage reeds..

yeah I gave that a shot too. I think there's a slight bend in the flat surface of the cage that lays on the reeds. I probably should have tried sticking it in a vice sandwiched between something flat.
