are you a believer
been alot of people claiming they could do it, but no proof has ever been presented before my eyes until now. seen it yesterday, dyno sheet cr500- 90hp at 8000rpm, 58ish lb of torque at 6500rpm, stock bore/stroke on alcohol. 83ish horse on gas

theres a cr500 in australia that is capable of 10 second quarter mile at 200 km/h, the same bike races a beach race where it can reach 220km/h. it supposedly put out 93hp. i agree with brit, dynos are just tuning tools.
this bike has been extensively modified cutting and welding to the cylinder and runs a fuel pump in which sucks 1 litre of fuel per minute.
i notice how quickly some people say it's not possible, i posted up some info on this bike a while back at cr500.com. needless to say the sceptics never replied to the thread, they are quick to dismiss claims on other threads when there's no proof, but as soon as you show them proof they shut their traps quickly. probably becuase of there poor attempts to build engines.
point being anything is possible.
i'm not going to dig up the info again because i couldnt be bothered.
the bike owners name is mick hansen and he races in the national drag racing series in australia. you'll find the stats in a search.

Quest for power...... Yes thats great, we all love it that why we ride big two strokes.
I just want you to relise that dyno figures aren't worth the paper they are written on. I could take my pretty much stock AF to the dyno and get it to spit out a 100 horse run, there are way to many variables that people and bad tuners can manipulate.
Use it as a tuning tool then they shine.

Thats a better way of measuring power, track slips dont lie.

i'm not 100% sure but i think he built it himself, as far as i know he owns a bike shop in queensland. to give you an idea on the porting you can see extensive modifications just by looking at the "outside" of the jug.100hp honda wrote:who built the motor. was it a guy in california, then he shipped it to australia?coley13 wrote:theres a cr500 in australia that is capable of 10 second quarter mile at 200 km/h, the same bike races a beach race where it can reach 220km/h. it supposedly put out 93hp.

here you go, scroll down to see his second run
10.779 at 196km/h with .874 reaction time so i guess a high 9 second pass is even possible

the only reason i dug up this info was i seen a tv show that featured this bike, they were the ones saying it had 93hp.
the reason i say supposedly is i cant find proof on horespower, all i could find where the quarter mile stats. but either way that is one damn fast cr500.be my guest and search for more info but i'm over caring about it and couldnt be bothered

You can get incredible numbers from anything......once.
Hell, I had a 3 cylinder, 1400cc 2 smoker that made 365hp, on hose. That was 1 fast snowmobile, and only good for one thing. Ice drag.
Cost for the motor............................... close to 10k
Worth it for maybe 20 passes a year.................Nope.
Money well spent......
