I'd asked him about it on the 26th, and got this reply immediately
The frame and engine are both 1997. They are the original match. The Carb is a New 39.5 PWKAS and not the original 38MM bored. I can see your point in the picture, but after double checking, can assure you that the nut is there!!
Thanks for taking the time to look. Ride Safe and RIDE RED.

Well this is the response I got when I asked about the missing swingarm bolt:
me:
Where is the swingarm bolt? Looks nice BTW - you'd be lucky to sell it for what its going for right now. Most CR500s (even a mint 01) dont go for as much as the current bid - anything over is just cream on top. Good luck with the sale!
him:
The bolt is in place but the nut is not. It was on backorder with Honda at the time of the picture... I have a gentlemen coming in from Canada, and an independent inspector coming today for a buyer in Australia. The Autralian has committed to $7500.00 based on inspection. Its well worth the money for the right buyer. Thanks for taking the time to look. Ride safe and RIDE RED!!!
Maybe it is a friend of his driving the price up...I know I am not the only person who had that idea....

The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

what I just sent "wow dude, you must have some nice friends to bid up the price like that for you. no one in their right mind would pay anywhere close to your current bid for a steelie no matter how clean.AlisoBob wrote:Rattle his cage Danny....
If it goes any higher... its got to be one of his buddies, running it up...
BTW allen head bolts are not factory honda, and seeing the missing swingarm nut makes me wonder how the rest of the bike was put together. good luck with the sale, hope ebay doesn't bust you for calling a '97 an '09.
ride red homie ;-)

I had my gen-4 on cl for a while, didn't really want to get rid of it, so I posted it for $4500.. got a ton of e-mails with people offering trades but not one person w/ cash. this guy thinks his 12 YO bike with a carb, pipe and clean rebuild is worth more. my gen-4 got all the same treatment, even every bearing and seal replaced, clean as fuck, even has the swingarm nut .
