Flywheel Weight Won't Come Off

Post by CR500PHIL »

Tonight I tried to remove the flywheel weight from my CR500 engine - one problem the four tiny set screws are corroded in and will not move. Has anyone ever had this problem and how did you get it off? I want to de-sissify the bike but I cannot get the damn weight off since I risk twisting off the set screws.

try some PB Blaster on it and let it set for a day
if it still wont come off heat up the weight and smack it around alittle with a hamer.
ive taken one off that had 2 set screws that where locked up .

I like "mouse milk" it and aviation iol to remove corroded hwd. crazy shit. deep creep works equally well. worst case try to use and ez-out. or drill it out but then you will have to retap with oversize.
