What's up with my monitor?

Post by HrcRacing »

The monitor on my computer has decided to become overly bright and, if I try to turn the brightness down below 98, it has these funky lines going through it horizonally.

It's a flat screen 17" Westinghouse hooked up to a $800 HP computer if that helps.

Any suggestions on what might cause this? The monitor is only like a year or two old.

Thanks!

Sounds like it went south, just grab another one, they are fairly cheap. I picked up a 19 inch Hanns-G LCD from newegg.com for 120 bucks.

I just this bought a 22" widescreen acer monitor from newegg. Had it 3 weeks and love it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824009145

Also thought it would make a nice "equipnent purchase" for my computer busniness before the end of the year :D

I have a few of those...uh...purchases myself! Tax time coming up...

But, check if the monitor is under warranty 1st. If so, exchange it. I came across a 19" Toshiba a few years ago, when retail was around $700 - some dude threw it out. I picked it up, called Toshiba and discovered it was under warranty, and voila! New free monitor! :D
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

Too much porn make your screen bright and happy.

Or maybe it's just like a bulb before it blows; gets real bright. Then pops next time you turn it on.
