the stainless case bolts could never be a problem at this grade anyways, but beyond that

-the case has dowels so there is no shear force on the bolt
-the threads in the case are far weaker than the bolt

i've personally never met anyone foolish enough to use stainless bolts for head bolts, and altho it is an engine, there are only studs holding the jug to the case and studs holding the head to the jug that are relevant, the rest of the bolts have no load

I have some stainless head bolts and studs left over from my watercraft days. I don't know what grade of stainless they are, but some of them are magnetic.

I never had a problem with them.

depends on the stainless used to make the parts.

i'm no metal expert, but i know that stainless work-hardens to ungodly strengths. and it is a PAIN in the ass to machine without tearing tooling bits to shreds.

but, i dont see a problem with using them for case bolts. it makes things more visually attractive, and regardless, the bolts are stronger than the aluminum threads in the case.

I went to two different Fastenal locations and they won't let me buy single bolts. I have to order a pack of each size. Is the number before the a the length of the bolt? I'm going to order some on eBay.
