Well paul, according to bob it is!!!

again , if the cosmetic apperence of the wash welds bothered you personaklly so bad that its jacked you up for a couple years..
then seriously you shouldnt have bought it,
despite it being what you say has been a great bike for you.

and seriuosly paul as much as you go off on it..
you never once called me,
one DAY after you bought it you should have been on the phone,
if it really tweeked you as much as you spout off.

if itas an 03 i ngood shape still,
plenty of giuy swould pay you 6 k for it.

youd still whine after riding a used bike 2 or 3 years and
then able to make 2 thousand off it?

strange lot here. seriously.

Dude, seriously, put down the pipe....

I never stated it's rocket science. Where do you come up with this shit?

I said you need to improve your quality.

If "quality = rocket science" to you, then that explains your lack of being able to supply it.

AJ, heres two questions for you to answer directly, in coherent paragraphs....

1. You referenced Mick in one of your posts.... specifically that you know he didnt receive some take off's, for an upgrade he purchased...

Question: Why didn't you address it immediatly, and assure him you are now aware of the problem, and are correcting it ASAP?

2. A buddy in Yucca Valley has 3 of your "Digital Ignitions" sitting in a box, collecting dust.

They dont work, he replaced them all with OEM ignitions.

Why dont you step up and write him a check for $1800, and let him return them?

For that matter, why dont you issue a public statement to all owners of the Gen 1 Digital Ignitions, that they can return them for a full refund if they are unhappy with them. The story I get is that they are to keep them, and exchange them if and when the Gen 2 ignition is released.

Not good customer service in my opinion....

listen you guys ingeneral twist up anything you can , so it's all good
same ol same ol.

I answered straight up why and how i make the bikes.
I have thouands of bveryt happy customers that contact me stokedwith thier bikes ,and not one EVER
has complained of the cosmetivs o gthier bikes..
other than the side opening airbox.

some of you see it differently and i respect that.
you should respect my opinion to disagree.

i point out something in anothger thread , and you now spin off for two days in every other direction possible.

Bob, i really dont owe you personally any anwsers ,
since you cant man up and apologize for making comments about my family.

but you have legitimate questions in the above post ,
and i will certainly answer them,
the best i can, as always.

1. Mick has my number, or email, has had it for likely 5 years or longer.
It might surprise you bob, but i dont know mick or his last name or address.
i sell a lot of bikes annually,, one that was sold in 03 might be hard for me to remember, and i may have not been here whren Mick picked it up.
you know that if it had botherd him, even now, he would have contacted me regarding it..
and he has contaced me, but as far as i can remember never mentioned that topic.

but bob you are right.
i should have PMd Mick..and will. PM sent Mick.sorry.

for that i owe MICK an apology for being a day late on the PM..

2.
lol..
Hey bob , lol lets face it,
as a rider,or webmaster..,
you have lots of opinions. enough to form your very own forum. ;)

Jay has been extreemly patient, couldnt be a better dude about it.
A completely stand up guy for sure..
and he knows if he wanted a refund i'd get him one.
we dicussed thins, he did choose to wait.
and absolutely he has waited far longer than either of us thought .
in BOTH our 20/20 hindsight it might have been better to just get an initial
refund,, but niether of us could know as thus went along,
how long it would take. and we bothmade deciusios accordingly.to wait or not.

if there is one hon on here that i owe a huge apology to its Jay.
but we both dint know the future, and he knows i'll do right by him anytime .
that's probably why you dont see him posting it eh bob?
and jay has every right to.

jay knows the situation and l that its beyond my control as far as product replacement timeline.
and knows he can nstead,at any time have a full refund.

its not like jay and i dont talk about it , bob.

There are a lot of riders that have this product and like it, and no troubles.

The ones tha have, we have tried to resolve it in replacement, refund , or replacement with new stuff when we get it in.

Do i feel it is a black eye to me?
you bet.

Youve understandably questioned this before i think?
and i outlined the reasons and timeline of the whole scenerio, what we did, and what we were doing..?

certainly customers have every right to bust my chops on it.

I'll say it again. AJ is a real hoon for sticking around on here. It seems like a lot of the confusion being resolved.

TTM and S/H should not be compared any longer as they are not building the same bike by design. Mike is building a boutique bike within a boutique market that AJ created.

For potential customers here is what i have gotten out of these posts:

Both bikes are sweet! We should all feel lucky to be riding CR500s!

I think it comes down to personal application, budget and personal choice. Or maybe whether you need a bike this month, or sometime in the not so determined future.....

For the average rider there is probably negligable difference here.

If this comparsion must continue, why not talk one of the mags into doing a shootout.....and finally put this topic to bed.

I couldn't agree anymore on what you just typed Shanman. I'll add if I may, I beleive AJ owes no one an apologie that has not bought product or service from him/SH. FOr him to come on here and answer questions in general is a good thing, but he shouold not feel obligate dto answer just anyone.
And as far as the difference in bikes, TTM seems to be willing to build any model/Generation AF for his customers. SH will build what they offer only.
Like AJ mentioned, he farms out his machine work so it would be to o costly to have conversion parts laying around for different models when his current offering is based on the CRF250 chassis.
TTM can build you what you need because he is capable of his own machining.

Actually, I don't think TTM has ever built anything but a gen 3. If you ever talk to mike, then you know how partial he is to the gen 3 chassis. I believe there is a un-finished 450 chassis in-progress, though. S/H has built over the last decade several generations of frame if my memory serves me.

where do you get your information?

I have to agree with the latest posts. Cut AJ some slack. At least he gets on here and tries to give his side of the story. I remember when we saw the posting of a guy who bought an MPS conversion and then would not post photos. No one made this big of a stink over that and AJ has posted pics and answered questions. He has even taken a little undeserved abuse about his wife. Often there are posts about low qaulity from SH but I think it's your money. If you think that the qaulity is sub par then don't waste your money. There will always be hoons willing to spend their hard earned money on a new 2 stroke bike from the only guy that offers them. There will always be hoons that will spend there money on a one off hand made personal bike by the only guy that offers them. There is a market for both bikes and it really comes down to you. The guy with the money to buy a new bike. Buy the bike that you want.

Very True!!

Which gives no one but the actual owners of each bike to question anything.

This site man. I thought I read somewhere that he is working on a 450, has done gen 3 250's and 125's. Am I wrong.
AJ offers, or recently offered conversions on Gen 2 and 3 250's, don't know if he still does. But will not offer the Gen 3 125 as it was a limited run, and will not offer a conversion service on any CRF250 frames, because they are sold as new current complete model from SH. And has never done 450 conversions.

That is not the type of questioning that has been going on here.

thats where it started...what are you going to do to improve your products for 08-09 and are you going to step up the quality control....that was the root question to alot of this and to this day it has not been directly answered.

well guys, I DO agree it is time to put this to rest... AJ is totally happy with his nasty looking cradles with nasty looking welds and will continue to sell then that way to the public, so I guess we should all quit asking!
I will never own a SH bike and a number of others here won't either for the same reason, but SH will continue selling them without us and will help keep the 500 alive. end of story.

You should go back, and formerly introduce yourself....

Not hiding behind anything Bob. I did very well with the two Gen 1's I built thank you.
I had no choice but to sign up since you denied my membership under my own name, and to think of all your posts where you had mentioned me coming on here and defending myself in the past. I wasn't allowed to. This thread isn't about me and I have stated farely on both sides of the fence here.
I will formerly introduce my self, but I will ask a favor of you. And that is to remove that picture and do not include her in anything you have to say or will say about me. And if you won't that shows YOUR true colors just like you did with AJ.
