Short video of Cherokee Cycle Park ride

Post by jbird_710 »

Both of the guys in frame have been riding less than 1 year. Try not to laugh too hard, we all were new at one time:

Too cool.
That's what its like when I take my wife and youngest out. I get all kinds of apologies for being held up etc. I just smile, shake my head and laugh. I tell them not to worry about me, just have fun. Then I remind them, if I'm on 2 wheels, I'm happy. If it is with friends, I'm ecstatic. With family, I don't have a care in the world.
No longer have a CR500.

The video is a bit deceiving; the trails are fairly tight and the corners are covered in powdered sand that is like baby powder on top of slick hard pack. If you lean into the corner, your rear end will slide out from under you. It kept trying to rain and we were wishing for a quick down pour to make things more sticky. One guy broke a rib, pulled all of the muscles in his shoulder, and contracted pneumonia. Our cook (the guy on the Honda in the video) sliced his thumb pad off nearly bumping the bone going through it (9 stitches to sew it back on). EVERYbody went down at least a half dozen times over the weekend. One kid's 70 had a flat and a guy beat the shaft out; destroying the threaded end and it took several hours of filing to get the nut back on. But, it was still a great weekend and I had an awesome time.
