I think the gasket finally gave up the ghost after 20 years of use

might tear mine apart for another tranny swap. them '93-'01 gears are rubbing me the wrong fricken way. decisions decisions

let me tell you, have bikes of both ratios and riding them side-by-side, I really don't like the close ratio... I short shift my gen-1 into 4th and ditch everyone else on the hill

ya but your gen 1 has enough power to do it
I figgure with some tall gearing and closer ratios i can find me that sweet 3rd/4th gear and go for some stupid fast rides

ya i have one of each ratio in both my motors. my newer gears i had to gear it up 14/48 and use 1-4 because 5th was useless in the sand. my other motor i was able to use all 5 gears with 14/49

before i do tranny swap i thought about trying 14/50 or 51 and see if that helps with 5th gear

IMO that close ration is fukin useless, theres like 800 RPM difference between 3rd and 5th. Ive had to gear mine so high that its a pain in the ass to ride with the wifey as first is so high.
Im going wide ratio as soon as it blows the crank.
