what is everyone using for engine mount hwd. also what is everyone using for rad hoses. i have crf250 rads so i can only assume i need the crf 250 hoses that connect to each other.

you can use any old 5/8" heater hose to connect the 2 rads together. I used a combination of the stock crf250 and cr500 hoses along with a '02-'04 crf450 Y to make the upper hoses, then used the 2 stock lower hoses w/ a 5/8"-3/4" adaptor. works great. Go look at my gen-4 thread to see pics.

oh and I cut the outlet on the bottom shorter instead of putting a new outlet on. Cut it pretty much in half so the hose could bend down, you can see the bend on the lower portion in that pic as well.
I wanted to modify the rads as little as possible so if I crash a taco one, I can just but a stock replacement and bolt it right on, or for the right side just cut that outlet shorter and call it a day.

Danny are you sure thats the right bolt cause I ordered one and its way sloppy in shanmans mounts,I don't know what happened to my 86 front mount bolt but I know the lower one is a nice snug fit in shanmans mounts and thats what I expected this 160mm one to be but the diameter is way small,I should take a pic tonight and show you what I meandannygraves wrote:front bolt honda # 95701-10160-08

I was mobbin' all over dumont 2 weekends ago and my gen-4 didn't even puke, and was even running slightly on the lean side too and tearing it up!
remember that the gen-4rads are linked top and bottom by 2 5/8" hoses and same inlet and outlet setup as a gen-1. my gen-1 has always run cooler than it did in the '86 steel frame...weird...

Is it supposed to be that loose?I guess I was just expecting it to fit snugglier then that?

I dont think you'd want it super snug. Because when it comes to install time, it'll be a real bear if there is no room for adjustment. I have the same bolt and mounts on my Gen2 and it works fine. I'm sure even the stock Honda mounts have some room in them.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
Cool,I just wanted to make sure it was the right onehoofarted wrote:I dont think you'd want it super snug. ya thats what I thought cause when I stick the stock lower bolt from my 86 through one of these mounts it fits nice and snug which I thought the front mount should fit like as well, whats the next size up from this bolt diameter wise?AlisoBob wrote:I beleive the stock bolt is 10mm?
I match drilled the mounts and motor to 3/8" once the motor was installed.
You do not want any play.
