V Force 3 vs 2?

Post by mega491 »

Is upgrading to the new V Force 3 worthwhile? Moto Tassinari made a prototype run for the CR 500 and has the V Force 3 in limited supply (a few hundred I was told). I currently have the V Force 2 in my Gen III 500. Anyone switched yet? If so 2 cents worth please.....

I doubt there is that much of a difference. I'm gonna buy one for the gen-3 because I like the vforce reeds, my gen-1 has the vforce 2

pppssshhhh, they offer more airflow area and thus higher cfm flow, if its not helping your bike rev you need to put a real carb on it

It revved out a ton better with the boysen carbons in the stock cage.

And you dont need a big carb when your injecting your own oxygen and fuel

I still put money down that with a 41mm carb you'd pull faster up the hills

hehehe you didn't see how she ran the hill though. ran best yet, I was turned around by the time Justin caught up, and I only passed him about halfway because of my panzy launches. too bad you aren't coming out this weekend, I bet my bike would make your reconsider this carb arguement

Things the tech wanted to make note of:
1. The last model offered two petal tensions for high or low rpm response. The latest provides optimum reed action at all rpm.
2. The cage has been redisigned for more volume, less turbulance, greater crankcase pressure and increased atomization.
3. Longer lasting carbon reeds...mine are five years old and counting, I don't know why you would need longer lasting reeds?
4. He says you should feel a difference between the V2 and V3.

Sounds neat. I love companies who still R&D new products for my bike that hasn't been produced in seven years Cool I look forward one day to grabbing a V3 when the set I have wears out...if I can wait that long.
I'd like to try a set too. But I can't drop $200 on something to replace a unit that's just fine as is. My current VF will have to shit the bed first. Replacing a shot reed cage isn't ideal for comparison purposes, but with five years and counting on this cage it wouldn't be a good comparo anyways. A "few" hundred CR500 parts can last years in a warehouse.

I saw them on Ebay for around $140. Search "V Force" in motorcycle parts and it will come up.

Google "V Force Reeds" or try www.mototassinari.com . I just performed a "Buy Now" on Ebay for a V Force III to install in my 91 CR 500 powered gen III w/V Force II. Will post opinion on V Force III vs V Force II comparison ASAP.
