heres '85 cr250 bottom end which looks eerily similiar to trx250r bottom end, where the cylinder mounts up
heres 250r bottom end
heres my idea- provided '87 cr250 and trx250r crank journals were same diameter (stock rod is to flimsy, saber crank would be mandatory), and i have a hunch diameters were same but im not positive. take '87 cr250 bottom end, use saber crank and saber cylinder and you have nearly 500cc. then you install this motor into AF chassis, because im pretty sure the old cr250 had very similar engine mount spacing as cr500. everyone catch the drift what im saying here ??
look at this torque curve if you could make it work in AF chassis, 60+ lbft torque all the way across the board

fuk ya man. its worth checking into. trx250 motor i dont think could be used in AF because it uses backwards kicker and the engine mount brackets look to be way out of wack. so my theory was the saber jug might, just might fit on the early cr250. shazam you got 500cc and it would fit in AF just as easy as cr500 because engine mounts were close to the same. if i had 2 saber jugs in my garage i would be on this idea RIGHT NOW . it might not make a good moto cross bike but would kick ass as desert racer or sand dragger or hillclimber.

95mm bore ?? you want to part with one possibly????
Yep they are 95 mm bore and 76 stroke but they are going on a set of billet cases this winter. Its called saberteeth so basicly just a twin saber tooth motor. K&T performance in utah built it. I got the chassis done so all i need is little stuff like tires and axle to complete it. It should run 3.40s about 95mph on motor plus what i decide to spray.

they haul ass, but that kind of power on the 250r bottom end......well, they are notorious for eating bottom ends. i looked into this one for a short time, and they kill trannies.

Neal at saber racing has a billet 1st gear out now for the 250 tranny. First gear is the weakest gear in the tranny so that should take care of tranny issues. My brother has a saber on his trx and raced it all summer with out any problems but he has a 2-4 override with manual 5th & 6th.

the trans part is fine for a bike, the 250 is the same strength, material, and if tooth count matches, the dimension as the 500's! There are common gears in the 02-04 cr250 + crf450, throw a heavy 4wheeler chassis arround it and shit is going to break! I bet the trans is taking 3-4 times the load of a bike trans.

do you know the specifics on the crank that neal uses? i was wondering if it destroked 6mm 250r crank with cr500 rod, or they using some kind of polaris or artic cat rod ? im call somebody tomorow but im thinking that cylinder will bolt right to early model cr250, and those motors are cheap and easy to find, and will fit right in AF chassis no problem

never mind, i found my answer. he uses 72mm and 70mm crank. but do you know what rod they use ??

Mine and my brothers use a artic cat rod. They also use the artic cat reed cages. I use the 48x 58mm cpc oval carb cause it uses more of the outer reed pedals then a round carb.
