Hey Mike, glad you're moving along with the conversion
If you want when the engine is ready and we fit it in the frame, we can tack weld the engine mounts, spacers and Y with my new toy
That way we can immediately test fit the pipe clearance and the rads and
drop the all thing off at the welder .
It should speed up the process, what do you say?
And yeah,,slowly but surely my garage is converting into a shop.
If I could only move washer and dryer out without hearing it from my wife

Ok, here are the engine mounts, I tried to make them look like stock
and installed
and
and here welded on the frame(I DID NOT DO THE WELDING MYSELF)
and from the other side
Here's he weld of the downtube
and
and these are the welds and filler for the lower extensions of the cradle
and an overall picture of the cradle
There is still some grinding and sanding to be done to remove some of the old weld,it's the next step...beautification

How much room do you have between your rad and Y section? That's pretty well the way I am going to do my conversion. I think I am going to cut the frame a little further forward, because it has to go up as well as forward.
I am also going to make my motor mounts 1" thick. I know it's overkill but it can't hurt.
I hope I can find a welder as good as yours.

We grinded the exiting weld at the downtube, we didn't cut the frame, and pushed up the Y about 20-30mm, enough to clear the pipe and springs but making sure the rads could still fit.robertg wrote:How much room do you have between your rad and Y section?
