Finally after 6 months I am building a new shop. My Dad is helping me, it has been pretty cool doing something like this with him again. I will miss not having the AF in the bedroom though!
I am 6' 7" tall 340lbs. I think my Mom had a fling with the milk man! Ha Ha! People always tell me I make my bike look like an 80! Yeah, the fastest 80 they've ever seen! LOL
cool deal. What is the size of your concrete slab? How think is it 4"? Did you pour it or have a company do it? how pricey was it? I am looking at getting a larger shop built here soon, have found some decent buildings, need to figure out what the slab will cost though, thanks.
Thanks guys! I'm stoked. The slab is 24' square. 6" thick with fiber mesh for strength. They hard troweled it, so it's a super smooth floor. I had a local outfit come in and do it. $2500. The shop itself is 24' square, with 10' walls, and 14' peak. It came in a kit for $5200, my Dad and I are doing all the construction, we just finished the roof today, and the electric service will be 200 amp with numerous 220 outlets for machinery and all the toys!
Thanks jbaze for the info on the slab, i did not know that you could get a wood/stick shop in a kit. Sorry for all the questions mang, but do you have any contact info for them? The ones i have been looking at are steel prefab, and they put them up for you ( and have been priced cheaper than some I see that you do it yourself.) A client had one and it was good quality but i am thinking yours would be more comfortable in the winter (it gets down to the 20's here in the winter)
The web site for the company I got the building from is ziggys.com. $5250 out the door delivered to my house. They have any size you want, but I don't know where they deliver too. That price is everything minus concrete. I'll post more pictures as I go. We had the union on the job today though, my Dad and my neighbor are both in the Carpenters union, pretty cool getting to work with guys that have skills like that. Thanks for the props everyone!
Also, all the posts are 6X6 treated so it will allow alot of insulation. And it comes with all the MBI insulation for the roof. And a 16X8 Wayne Dalton Garage door and a man door.

My garage is a very sad place to conduct business, a shop like yours is my dream household space. The wife can have the entire house for all I care. Give me a 24' square shop!
Thanks guys! This is the first real shop I have ever had. It has so much room I am going to have to buy some more bikes to use the space! I did find a tool box I might treat myself too. It was at Lowes, it has a built in AM/FM CD MP3 stereo, a fridge, and enough room to store the snap on catalog 2 times over for a mear $1700!
Here are some more pictures. Getting closer, my Dad went fishing for the week so I'm on my own, but my wife has been helping me out alot too. For the posts, I hand dug 9 holes 36" in diameter and 4 feet deep then we squared the posts and filled the holes with concrete. It took 4 1/2 yards of concrete just for the posts! The floor has nearly 8 yards. The skin is Just coragated metal siding. It all comes with the kit.
Finally got the rest of the back ordered stuff and finished my shop. I had to excavate a couple of yards of dirt for the slab and just piled it in the front yard for now, so after I was done with the shop I decided not to let a good pile of dirt go to waste, plus it'll help sread it around for next year!
