Fuel Prices

Post by hoofarted »

Seems that the prices are slowly dropping. Diesel is where it should be...with regards to placement, not necessarily price at this ARCO in Redlands. I was there on Friday and actually felt better about not paying as much as gasoline!

Now to get it below $2/Gal...

And another thing, a barrel is down to nearly $70, off from the high of $141+...... 50% yet we only see a 25% drop at the pump. :?
I leave SoCal for 10 days its $3.29, today I see $3.11 hopefully it will keep going like this til Christmas.

Diesel is still $3.50 + a gallon here. Not that I'm bitching though, now it only costs $110 to fill up as opposed to $150! I think they need to cap fuel prices. But now that prices are coming down, they aren't worried about alternative fuels as bad. Funny how that works isnt it?

WTF!! Gas prices here in Florida haven't changed a damn bit!! They've come down like $0.20. Diesel is still over $4.00 here, $1 more than regular unleaded. Cheapest I seen today was $3.65 for unleaded and $4.60 for diesel. Nice they're coming down, but they've got a long damn way to go yet until I'll stop bitching. What really pisses me off now is the cost of a barrel vs what we're paying at the pump. News said last week a barrel cost this much in '98 but we were paying $2.20 on average!!!! WTF happened!!!

after the election, it will go back up.

although, with the domestic auto companies teetering on the brink of destruction, the oil men might be figuring out that raping us for fuel is ultimately gonna hurt them if one of the big 3 goes under as a direct result of their jacking-off.

GM is going to "trade" their share of GMAC financing to Cerberus for Chrysler. Chrysler has $12 billion in the bank, that GM could blow through in another year before they're profitable again. When it happens I expect the Dodge truck division to be sold off to Nissan, GM to keep the minivans/Jeeps, and the remainder to go to Renault. I wouldn't be surprised if another 30k people lose their jobs here in Detroit. It ain't pretty...

oh, I just got a new neighbor with a turbo small block powered '68 camaro that runs 9's... he needs help putting in his new dizzy  aparrently he paid someone to build the car for him  so disapointing, plus he is pushing boost through a double pumper which I think is the most ghetto white trash and improper use of forced induction ever!

i have had dodges, chevy's, fords, and nissans.. the titan was the best fit/finish and overall power deliver of them all.. that 5.6 rocked and 06 and later they worked all the bugs out of the drive train. Only minor gripe i had about that truck.. was the plexi they used to cover the cluster it chirped a little from vibration.. fixed it by stuffin a gum wrapper up in there to seperate the plastic a bit and walla good to go..

The titan as with all nissans (since renault got involved) have great motors and utterly shit interiors, everything they use is cheap thin, flimsy, plasticy and rattly. Hell even the wifes infinity aint that much of an improvement.

they work, I just think MPFI CAN build more power on the same setup and gives you much more control with tuning. expecially in a high boost environment where a lean spot means melted pistons!

There are some old school guys who just love their carbies, but my old custom MPI setup was freaken kickass. I could re-design my fuel map while driving down the freeway! Plus I like the fact that I could change my tune for the fuel I was running, made it much more friendly as a weekend drag car and a week day daily driver.

I just don't understand why my neighbor dude would drop soooo much money on that motor and still run a carb... :?

it's simple and because for the most part, EFI of all types is still considered black magic by the majority of drag racers. It's changing, but very slowly.

The ones that have embraced it are more of the cutting edge minority. The guys in NMCA/NMRA heads up series racing and the sport compact crowd.
