buildin a cr5 and need some help findin a motor

Post by flipside rider »

i am not quite sure which one would work for my bike but i bought a full rolling chassis off a guy for 400 bucks. its a 2002 polished frame. i dont really care too much for price as long as its sensible.all my life ive rode the big cc fourstrokes and am tryin to see the light and cost efficiency of 2 stroke. i know piles of stuff bout all the 4 strokes but there are so many variations of the a/f and generations and theyve kinda got me confused. i have 10 years in fabrication and mechanics so that side is fine i just need help findin the right motor for my bike. ive dreamed of buildin this bike and since my oh so reliable yammy blew up 2wice in a season (thanks god really funny big guy) i decided to stop waistin my time and build what i want. so basically in all this horsesh!t story i need a little help finding the right one for my bike and possibly if someone has it the templates or guidelines for the frame alterations. if you guys could help me that would be amazing

I am from Canada too and fell your pain - I cannot a decent CR 500 engine either. Half the people on eBay won't even respond to questions about shipping - ignorant aholes.

I am picking up a 94 this weekend and everything is always for sale. Depending on where your at and which service you want to use ex. USPS, Fed Ex or UPS the price varies. USPS will ship up to 70lbs in the states and the motor boxed with everything is like 69.5lbs. Shoot me a PM or email and we can talk. www.usps.com for prices worldwide. Overseas to Australia and Europe has to go UPS and is like $350. I usually sell them on Ebay and they go for $1000-$1500

You can search every city on Craig's List by going to a site called www.crazedlist.org

just go to google and type ''craigslist cr500''...there should be all sorts of links...i don't need to chill man, i just get bored of people asking how to find engines in the af section...i'd rather help you on how to fix your engine or build your bike...hopefully you find a good motor and we can watch you build it...good luck but craigslist is your best bet...

I had the same problem with Craiglist - had to select a city which is useless. I will try the new link.

Nice little program, can search by city, state, country and everything in between. No spam, viruses or spyware!

As for the motor, good luck! Have the cash and have been shopping for one for while. Looks like my only option is to buy a 2k+ bike and part the chassis or hope to get one off eBay, if one comes along!
