I honestly have no idea how the chain did it but it did... i hadnt touched the chain other than oiling it for over 6 months when it did that... not like i had been playing around with it.MICK wrote:Dude why is it always the guys that run without a case saver that the chain decides to take a shit?? I don't kow...six months is a long time to not do ANYTHING with the chain. By comparison I don't go a single ride without taking the chain completely off the bike and scrubbing it down and oiling it. Remount, adjust, realign sprocket and recheck tension again. It sounds like alot but preparation means everything. If a non o-ring chain with five years on it isn't proof in the puding I don't know what is? In most cases the argument for a component failure isn't "What did you do?" It's "What haven't you done?"

I agree with you but I will say It was being used exclusively on paved roads with minimal dirt and grime, oiled every few rides, chain tension checked visually before each ride, and only ridden an overall average of maybe once every 8 or 10 days... agreed i could have donemore but still shouldnt have done that...MICK wrote:I don't kow...six months is a long time to not do ANYTHING with the chain.
