picked up my co-workers '76 CB750 last week.

so I picked up my co-workers '76 cb750 last week and she sat for 8 years, but is otherwise great condition. I plan to build a cafe racer out of it.

The carbs were the most horrendous thing I have ever seen!
I had to take aq torch to them to get the slides out and went through 8 cans of carb and brake parts cleaner and they still aren't prefect! I also accidentally melted the solder holding one of the floats together

Turns out the reason he parked it was and electrical issue no one could figure out. well about 30 minutes, a multimeter and a nice wiring diagram found online and I tracked down the issue, was just a correded connector, cleaned it up and everything works!

Got her fired up over the weekend using a, '89 cr500 gask tank since the stocker needs to be cleaned out. had some smoke coming out of cylinder 4 and some popping out of #1, but I think she'll clear out after a while. the 4 into 4 pipes make diagnosis easy

oh, and I haven't even paid for it yet, I owe him $250. here are a couple pics.


that luggage rack thing is already off and he gave me a sissy bar, saddle bage and a fairing that are all going to the first redneck or craigslist to give me $50

Bitchin'!!! That exhaust alone is worth some decent coin, the original 4 into 4's are becoming hard to find in decent shape. Definitely throw 'em up on ebay if you're turning it into a cafe racer.

I've got a '74 CB550 that I've ridden for most of the summer, on the original tires... Came with an obnoxious wood-plank sissy bar too. I need more recent photos, I yanked the engine crash guards off and had to put a headlight assembly in it when I first bought her back in May.

I had an Air Force friend who had two of them. He let me ride one from Fairfield to San Fransico one day. After leaving Terminal Island going into San Fran it just dies as soon as I get on the Bay Bridge, I'm like WTF ah this is a good place to leave me stranded. Good thing a lane was coned off so I could pull over. I let it sit for a few minutes, check the gas and was on. Then it fired up and never did it again but the whole time crusing Frisco was fun cause i didn't know if or when it might do it again.

The thing a hated the most on that bike was it turns like a brick at intersections. Maybe given more time cause I never rode something like that before and coming off a RM250 of the same year?

god damn I love honda!!! I just placed an order with HPD for some gen-3 chassis stuff and some parts for the '89 motor and I was checking to see if I could order a float and 4 needle/seat sets (since sudco doesn't have them) and sure enough they are listed, but only available in sets of 4. combined it was $44 for all the CB parts I need to rebuild those carbs!!
Its amazing that honda still keeps parts for a 32 year old bike! I don't really think I could go into a ford dealer and pickup carb parts for a '76 grand torino!

awesome find DG, cant beat riding to work in the morning, better that a cup of joe to get ur blood going. I have a 81 cm400t w 4,500 miles on it that I am going to get going so i can ride to work every day (25 mi down rt 66, my house and work are on same road, feels funny not turning on a ride that long) also so i dont rack up as many miles on the evo.

think I am going to chop mine (engine looks similar to the old triumphs) wish i had the kicker model though, 79 or older cases
