Engine component swapping, Help!
Well gang, the 87' magnesium clutch cover finally sprang a leak and since it's tme to spend some money on it, I have a few questions. I will be using the later 01' style clutch cover.
1: Will an 01' style cylinder fit?
2: Will an 01' style Crankshaft/Rod fit?

I was thinking it was about as strong as cardboard. Pot metal would last longer than what's on it.M.F.D.B. wrote:Pot metal!!!!87CR500Rider wrote: magnesium clutch cover

I remember! everyone said the clutch cover on the '90+ wasn't mag, and you said it was and it turned ugly, but you were right, the newer years switched to AL for the water pump, but the clutch cover is still mag, it even has the little logo on the inside saying its mag. plus when you blast it, it stays darker than the rest of the motor.
