old yeller on ebay

Post by 100hp honda »

im putting this on ebay in the next few days, just giving anyone interested a heads up. i tore most of it down (with exception of splitting cases, pulling cylinder, or pulling steering bearings) , to clean and asses mechanical condition, its not mint but i will say this- ive seen 2007 bikes in alot worse shape

its overall condition in a quick nutshell:

the good points

1- starts 2-3 kicks when cold, 1 kick when warm and runs great

2- shifts beautiful

3- clutch works and feels excellent

4- plastic and seat in excellent shape

5- front sprocket and chain in good shape, rear sprocket at aproximatly %50 of its life

6- nothing broken, cracked, or jb welded (with exception of rear rim)

7- compression certainly isnt what a new motor would be but its more than adeqaute...ill probly throw my compression tester on it this weekend just to be 100% sure where its at

8- pipe has normal rock dings around the front tire area, but other wise excellent shape and air tight

9- silencer in beautiful shape cosmetically, hard to be %100 certain of the guts because the old silencers were welded shut at both ends, but it sounded fine and no rattling inside. maybe ill stick a flashlight inside to have a better look

10- bottom of the frame has your normal scratches and scrapes but no big dents or cracks

11- first oversize piston was installed in 1981, second oversize was in 1987. i pulled the reeds and piston is good, has a little carbon buildup from the original owner probly "putting" it around too much or mixing the fuel too rich.... i hammered the throttle and it ran pretty crisp for me so im pretty sure he putted it around way too much

12- both tires nearly brand new

the bad points due to its age

1- fork seals leaking: $20 for seals and probly 3 hours on a saturday for semi-competant suspension guy

2- rubber intake manifold has developed cracks, still air tight but probly should be replaced before too long: im assuming they are fairly cheap but i didnt bother checking a price, and would be 1 hour at the very most to install

3- rear rim has 2 small cracks: for a knowledgable welder like teem trubble it would be a real simple fix, or a shop may charge $50 im not sure

i know alot of you guys arent interested, but like i said this post is merely to keep a heads up on ebay for those that are interested
