pretty weird how the header comes around the y section also...This new bike has a 18mm longer swingarm supposedly...i wonder if converting one of these gen5 450's would work as well considering the frame is lighter and more narrow...i almost wouldn't want one...
the cradle is a totally different shape, the steering head is closer to the motor (bad for wheel room and motor room), the down tube leading to the Y tapers, the small tank with fuel pump shorter stock motor with a shorter frame (tank closer to head is bad), headstay on each side making headstay a PITA, did I miss anything that would make this conversion more difficult?
IMO the gen-3 and gen-2 conversions are almost identical and the gen-1 is a no brainer, the gen-4 is a lot more work and the gen-5 sounds like building a whole new bike! the fact remains that a 2 stroke chassis is always easier to convert.

my gen 3 450 was a process indeed, but now that i have done it, i could build the same bike in less then a month, that's waiting for parts, going to welder, and putting it together...maybe even 2 weeks...i would like to try a gen 3 2 stroke frame for sure though...
Maybe I'm not looking in the right place but I can't find info on the new CRF's. Is it me or is the 700 ste up as a dual sport with off road tires? I have heard rumor of them dropping the XR650L, is that what they are replacing it with?
Thats what I thought, just got my hopes up though. I was looking at the honda site, and read the specs for the new 450. It doesn't sound to bad to me really. Looks like a conversion would be a little more work though. I didn't think $7599 was to bad of a price, but I think I would wait till next year to buy one, just to let the bugs out.
