A wheelie good question? ..or Wheel of mis-fortune?

Post by Skidmark »

Howzit HOONS !!!

OK, I went to put on a new rear tire and the rim is SHOT !! Corrosion unlike any I've seen before has eaten the aluminum and is causing the wheel to seperate into it's primary parts. Not good

So, I have a 36 spoke Excel wheel set from a RM250 Suzuki. The Honda is 32 spoke. Being poor in paradise, I'd like to get your opinions on the "best for the money" hub that wil accept my 36 spoke Excel's. I suppose I'll put the front Excel on as well...I haven't checked but I'm assuming I'll need a new hub for that too.

I am begging for your .02 so don't be shy.

MAHALO!!

Well it sounds like you're doing quite well for being poor in paradise

Hubs cost what? About $300 a piece?
Most hubs don't except OEM spokes and spoke sets run $100 a piece. So you're potentially looking at $800 for new hubs and spokes. An OEM Honda 2.15"x19" rim costs $180...

Hmmm. So is it safe to assume a 18" 500 wheel is about the same money? I'll look into it. The Excels are actually for my DRZ450.....

Being poor in paradise is the same as being poor on the mainland....only the weather is better and the girls wear bikini's year round!

Thanks.
