Does anyone know if they can tax an appartment security deposit return?

It was a deposit, not a sale or taxable service, so I would say no???

I think they are reaching and hoping you just take it, counter them with a bill for interest

I got a hold of an attorney near here and he is looking into it. Thanks for the info though.

I don't think so, if its a return, that is just income that was already taxed being returned...

I'd say NO because there was no profit or gain in the transaction.
